“Cover me” – Schwedische Wiiswii oder ‘Egusee’

Schwedische Wiiswii
Steff La Cheffe - Schwedische Wiiswii

Are you watching “Cover me”, the SRF1 show, as well? Or don’t you even know it?

I once watched the German show, when it just was on. But didn’t really pay attention to it. Somehow not so much my thing – Schlager meets rap, and then they exchange songs to make new versions out of them. I now zapped into “Cover me” about 3 weeks (?) ago, because the first participants were Padi Bernhard (Mash, “Ewigi Liebi”) and Steff La Cheffe (“Anabelle, “Ha kei Ahnig”). Guess I don’t know any other Mash song but “Ewigi Liebi”, but back then during “Kampf der Chöre” I’ve seen Padi Bernhard and Steff La Cheffe I’ve seen live last summer several times, and only recently in June on Bundesplatz. I like both. And the show was definitively entertaining – even now after the third show, I plan to see the next expisode. Okay, qualitatively proably not the best show – all of it quite fitted etc. But partly some good and fun songs turn out of this exchange. “Ewigi Liebi” turns to “Schweische Wiiswii” or “Louenesee” into “Egusee”. You learn someting about the musician, who you may not know this way or not at all; where they come from, what kind of music they play, how they got known, what successes they had… It’s really interesting. And memories come back – like during the last episode with Bo Katzmann. I knew him through school – back then at 1st/2nd grade when we did learn songs of him and his choir, or I remember Span playing back then at my school a small concert on the schoolyard.

The show is perfect for Monday evenings! (Monday, srf1, 9.50 pm)
