Kunz at Pride Festival Zurich

Well, you sure have heard of “Gay Pride”, the gay and lesbian parade / demonstration, isn’t it? But that the whole thing is connected to various events, parties and festivals during a week, I didn’t know either. I only found out about the week before, when I went to the concert of Kunz at Kasernenareal in Zurich last Friday (13.06.2014). Once around the main station and then I even found the festival area. 😉

The concert had already started, aber as I was told, it was only first to second song. Because it had been raining quite heavy, concert start had been delayed. Good for me. People were only then slowely getting out of the party tents, out of the dtry. The area was then well crowded and I discovered some known faces. A few had travelled there only for the Kunz concert. The concert was unfortunately rather short. Some did go along more, others less, when Marco asked to dance or sing along e.g for “Schwedinne”. Unfortunately I don’t like the new version of “Schwedinne” not much anymore. But except of this, I liked this concert better than the last one I had seen. Some of the songs and lyrics really suit well for openairs and festivals – “Settig Momänte” (such moments), “Lüüt so wie mir” (People like you and I), “Eifach so” (Just like that) or “Wo dr Wind wäiht” (Where the wind’s blowing). I liked the vibes at Pride. Liked the openair feeling. There were quite a lot of people, but still it wasn’t too crowded at this time. When some rain drops fell again, many were braving the downpour and just kept dancing in the rain. Just with the last song, the rain became heavier, and then came the “floods”. Everyone ran into the tents before it started raining buckets. On the lawn a lake was almost formed. The organizer announced eventually that we didn’t have to be afraid as the tents were save thanks to arresters. Umm, thanks for the info. I indeed didn’t think about until then that anything more could happen than getting wet.

I stayed then at the festival for another moment. A fake Conchita Wurst was striding around the area. Many people seemed to fall for it. There was a food area on the other side of the ocncert area with various food and drink stands – burger, fries, crepes, ice cream… the band “Low Battery” eventually played. A female band, that covered many known hits as well as played own songs. They’ve been quite good. After Conchita Wurst – the real one – would have appeared for a speech. She obviously got some award. But I went home, I had enough. I think it’s good what Conchita Wurst is standing for and how through her is shown, that there’s not enough tolerance and acceptance in our society – everything that should be self-evident. But I don’t need to listen to her singing 😉
