Marc Broussard in Rubigen

09.04.2015 – I’ve had already heard about Marc Broussard through SEAT Music Session and esp., because he had sung and later recorded the song “Nume 5min” with Ritschi (Plüsch). I liked the song and so I didn’t think much about whether to join in the concert at Mühle Hunziken in Rubigen, when I got asked.

Marc Broussard is a in 1982 in Louisana born American singer/songwriter and his music is a mix of funk, blues, rock with influence of Southern rock. The style is called “Bayou Soul”.

On this evening there was a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere at Mühle Hunziken. The location was well visited, but not overfilled. With his big beared Marc Broussard seems so much older than he actualyl is, but with the way he is, how he talks to his audience and his stage presence, he’s super likeable and very sincere. The concert for which he was accompaigned by a drummer and bass player, started directly without supporting act. He’s not so well known here in Switzerland, but no newcomer at all. He already released 6 albums, including the newest work “A Life Worth Living”.

It was a super nice concert. Inbetween the songs he told stories and comments about his hometown, his life and family. He sometimes told about what inspired him to the songs. They are all very strong and sentimenal songs. To listen to him warms your heart. And at some point he was calling for Ritschi in Swiss German. In my surprise about the Swiss German and all about it, I first didn’t get who he’s calling. I had somehow totally forgotten about the song with the Plüsch singer in this moment. The bigger was the joy when I recogniced the singer and they begann “Nume 5min” 😉 Marc even sang a few lines in dialect, of course with a strong American accent. It was really great. It made him even more likable.

It was a wonderful evening. I only can recommend to you to go visit Marc Broussard’s concert the next time.
