The Souls at Kofmehl Solothurn

Sometimes The Souls really make me speechless. Cleary with their music, great voices and wonderful concerts, but also with some crazy actions and the most wonderful moments – and Saturday evening at Kofmehl definitively everything came together. Dear Souls, but you know, it wasn’t exactly meant like this? Haha.

The Souls played at Kofmehl Solothurn for the first time, at Raumbar. Kofmehl is one of my fave concert locations in Switzerland. It always feels good to go there. It’s colorful, seen so many great concerts there, whether in the big room or in the bar. Lately I’ve been there for concerts by Open Season and Rival Kings. The atmosphere is always nice, it’s just good there. And it sure was a proud moment to see The Souls on stage in such a location, in this location.

We were once again first in the empty bar and so my coat found its way to the wardrobe upstairs for the very first time. Have you ever brought your coats there? I think it’s pretty good organised. You grab yourself a hanger on the way to hand in your stuff all hung up. Besides the entrances and exit are subdivided, so even with many people it should’t get too chaotic. I managed to get my coat quickly after the concert. What’s esp. important, if you have to catch trains. I know, totally random, but it’s the details…

The Thun band was supported by British musician Simon Korsak, who opened  the evening from 8pm on. He tried it with a little German, but English was easier for him then. And differently to the Spanish, that slipped out of him, the concert visitors could understand it more or less. He only was back from a long South America stay a few days and so he was still so into the language. So he flew thousands of kilometers to play only a set of half an hour, he was joking. He played, accompaigned by an accoustic guitare, songs from his album “Korsakoustic”. They were quite songs, the audience was silently listening to, but let themselves inspire to sing in the end after all.

Differently to last time at Soho Club in Wangen, the flues of The Souls were cured and the band was more or less fit again. You also could hear it with the singing, that their condition generally was better again. As in Wangen also in Solothurn the audience was very quite during the show, the band of course was very happy about. So don’t think that bands won’t hear you chatting all the time. There were also few more friends in the front rows again. That’s of course additionally a lot more fun, if same-minded people next to you are as happy about certain songs as you are. Like at the beginning of “Live”, when probably the very last one noticed, that it was one of the faves in the front rows. It was a very nice concert, once again The Souls thrilled everyone. But honestly, at the end of the evening – well for me – somehow it was all about something else.

You might know the Kofmehl cakes? These incredibly delicous looking, with sugar flowers and band photos decorated cakes? Bands keep posting pictures of this cake on social media. After some researches I think it’s a Solothurn cake. I never was 100% sure if really all the bands get one, if they performe at Kofmehl. Originally I mentioned, that if they’d ever get one, if I might get a small piece to taste. But suddendly I was standing there after the concert with the whole The Souls cake… actually there was a party going on after the concert, but we then were standing in the middle of it noshing cake. You barely get two pieces down as it is very rich, but it’s tasting as good as it looks like. Being able to taste it, The Souls fullfilled a small, big wish to me. Even one small piece would have been more than enough.

THANKS SOULS for all the wonderful concert evenings and crazy moments like at Kofmehl
These are memories for eternity.
