„To go to such a concert was really worth it“ – „This band played so freaking awesome“ – „Up in the sky is such an awesome song“ – „I’d want to play the drums with ‚Up in the sky‘” – While battling through to the wardrobe, queuing for autographs or sitting in the train, I was hearing all kind of things about the just seen 77 Bombay Street concert. My heart kept racing and I had a wide grin in my face. I only can agree with these people. It was beautiful – even for the 50th time.
I was racing on my bike from work to Thun train station to catch the earlier train to Lenk. When I was wating for admission in the tent and was told, that there won’t be any support act and the Bombays will directly start at 8pm, I was really happy. Yes, I could watch the whole show, didn’t have to leave the concert early to catch the last train.
On this evening I’ve seen 77 Bombay Street already the second time at das Zelt Lenk. Last time is about a year ago, back then during „Oko Town Tour“. On this evening they were there with their actual album „Seven Mountains. There were a few acquaintances and known faces in the audience. The concert wasn’t sold out, the tent was only filling slowely. Rather impatiently we’ve been listening to this not so much liked « Pirates of the Carribean alike » sountrack. Luckily we had only to wait on showstart for another half an hour.
The setlist was the usual. At the beginning I didn’t like the atmosphere in the tent too much and it felt a bit strange. Couldn’t be the only reason that the four guys have seemed more talkactive during other shows? It was super nice to see them again. A little bit a déja-vu from last year. But first somehow the whole thing didn’t seem to gain monumentum, something was missing. But oh, funnily this especially immediately changed, when Joe ahead with the ukulele and the others behind him, jumped down into the audience, walked during their song „Long way“ through the audience over to B-stage in front of the mixing table. With songs as „Waiting for tomorrow“ and „Once and only“ this part was rather quite, but the nice ‘das Zelt’ atmosphere, that I know and love, started emerging and as soon as they were back on stage, started to rock again, esp. Simri turned up, it was so different. Maybe, becuase the four of them suddendly were so close to the audience? The audience in the back have been awaken? Or because Simri was crawling on the ground and people knew the songs better? I am not sure, but it was really nice and the way it should be. And so the concert ended as usually with my favourite song from „Seven Mountains“ album – „Own The World“ – and with this great, hyper feeling of happiness and heart throbbing.
At home I realized that it had been my 50th 77 bombay Street concert. I was a bit annoyed with myself. I would have loved to stand in front of the stage with the thought – „wow, this is my 50th concert!“. Okay, actually such a number isn’t so important, but then again somehow it is. Almost 5 years ago I’ve seen a first concert of them, and since I’ve seen them live in 5 different countries (Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France and the Netherlands). It’s not only the band, their music and concerts, but also everything coming with it: The travelling, discovering new places, getting all these impressions and experiencing. People, who are importand by now, that you possibley might not have met without these concerts. All the fun coming with it. It’s not only with 77 Bombay Street like that of course, but yesterday’s 50th concert is just the best example. And after this long time the band is still on tour and ongoing. Nowadays it’s not self-evident in this business. Yes, I totally love this band.
So this concert at das Zelt on Friday, this no. 50 is pretty meaningful and I of course hope to count no. 100 one day…
