newmusicfriday Top5 – 05.02.2021

newmusicfriday top5 05.02.2021

Friday is #newmusicfriday day – my favorite day. Here are my five favorite releases of the week.

#1 Joris – Willkommen Goodbye

What the German musician has already achieved with his songs on the first two albums, Joris will probably do again perfectly with the new work. Giving hope where it just seems somehow hopeless for the moment. He had already shown that last year with the first pre-release “Nur die Musik” (yes, I was endlessly playing it) and is now repeating it with his new song, the lead single “Willkommen Goodbye” on the upcoming album of the same name. The album will be released on 16 April 2021. So save the date!

And as for the video: who wouldn’t want a stick-retrieving pig as a loyal companion by the side ?! 😉

#2 Nico Suave & Johannes Oerding – Gedankenmillionäre

The German rapper Nico Suave and musician Johannes Oerding publish this great pop song called “Gedankenmillionäre” (mind millionaire) together. A song about wealth that has nothing to do with money. He doesn’t need a Rolex, Louis Vuitton or Versace, Suave raps. Your thoughts, visions and dreams are so much more valuable. With this song, the two definitely had a really good vision. If it isn’t going to be played on and off by the radios and becomes a hit, then I don’t know.

Suave has been in the business for over 20 years, but has been in the background for the last years and has written songs for other musicians such as Glasperlenspiel or Sascha. Pop singer and songwriter Johannes Oerding will be known to most people since the Vox show “Sing my song” at the latest. With his golden voice, Johannes Oerding complements rapper Suave greatly in their song. This song is a lot of fun!

#3 Marius Bear – Heart On Your Doorstep

Marius Bear also released a new song. The Appenzell musician wrote the wonderful ballad “Heart On Your Doorstep” in 2019 with the Schwyz singer Anja Gmür aka Kingselliot in London. With his deep, raspy voice full of emotions, the singer once again gives goose bumps. Within a few hours the song already reached over 10,000 streams on Spotify. Have a listen!

#4 Karavann – 2083

What will the future, our Earth, look like in the year 2083? “Will we be free, finally?” ask Karavann.
The band around the Swiss producer duo Fabian Imper and Tobias Jensen deals in “2083” with the different challenges of today as well as the near future. With hope on the horizon.

“2083” is the first song that Karavann will release together with the South African singer and instrumentalist Byron Spillman. After their debut album “Desert Tunes” (incl. “Carry Your Universe”, “All We Need Is Us”) “2083” is the forerunner of what will come from Karavann in the future.

What do you think the future will look like in 63 years? Have a listen to “2083”!

#5 Jeremy Zucker & Chelsea Cutler – Brent II (EP)

The American singer-songwriters and producers Jeremy Zucker and Chelsea Cutler are releasing with “Brent II” the second part of their successful EP “Brent”, which was released in 2019. After two years and one debut album each (Jeremy Zucker “Love is not dying”, Chelsea Cutler “How to be human”), they thought it was time to work together again. The EP contains 5 beautiful songs, including the singles “This is how you fall in love” and “Emily”.

Beautiful, harmonious and just perfect for snuggling up on the sofa and switching off. Music on, world off!
