They are back in the Old Capitol: Exactly one month after release Troubas Kater present their new album “Karma & Kaviar” also to the Langenthal audience. The Kater poeticize, ponder and question the big and small topics of life again today.
They are anything but “Made in China”, but certainly inspired by it. Full in the flow with the “Floss”, with trumpets and trombones, with sometimes quiet, sometimes loud guitar sounds as well as the Belgian musician Stromae as a role model, the 8-member Bernese band around frontman QC wraps us directly into their musical feather dress. As promised, tonight they carry us through every single song, every single track of their latest work. Plus much more.
Troubas Kater have been on the road together for 8 years and 3 albums. After their debut “Verdammte November” (2015) and the follow-ups “Aber morn” (2017) and “Itz ifach nid abe luege” (2020), Troubas Kater have their fourth album “Karma & Kaviar” with them. And where Troubas Kater is on it, there’s Troubas Kater in it.
On “Karma & Kaviar” we once again find poetic, witty and often ironic lyrics. They are linked with QC’s cool and eloquent spoken word vocals, down-to-earth melodies as well as rhythmic, danceable beats. Beats that are brought to life not by electronics, but by their acoustic instruments. Beats for which Troubas Kater broke extra comfortable habits during the album production to really get everything out of their instruments.

“Karma & Kavier” seems perhaps a bit heavier and more melancholic than its forerunners. Socially critical Troubas Kater bring heavier topics among the people. Be it the pursuit of success, prosperity and mass consumption or climate change. Inspired by traveling, one or the other exotic melody finds its way into the program. But “Aus chunt guet” – everything will be alright: No matter how gloomy the outlook may be, with their music, their warm and comforting melodies, Troubas Kater give us just as much the feeling and hope that everything will be alright.
Troubas Kater, moreover, do not just talk about doing things better. Their merchandise is made from sustainable, partially recycled and high quality materials. The hoodie is so comfortable that we will definitely want to live in it, we are assured by QC. Among other things, the CD comes in a tin box with caviar. Well, it’s vegan caviar. That is, they are mustard sprouts, which you can plant and eventually enjoy.
Today live again a blast, Troubas Kater come along anything but in “Zytlupe” – slow motion. When QC asks the audience for terms and themes for the lyricless freestyle song, the suggestions just bubble up at them. QC’s spontaneous rhymes are just as bubbly. From Stromae, Fotzelschnitte, hair loss and Obwalden are the short-term made up texts. Because all the suggestions used at previous concerts were immediately disqualified, today’s rhymes are as unique and one-of-a-kind as those before.
How about finishing with a little story time, a short reading? Once everyone is all quiet and coughed up, QC reads us “Bänker & Buur” from their “Karma & Kaviar” book. Only rhyme after rhyme does one instrument after the other set in.
The Troubas Kater concerts are once again best entertainment. And even if we leave the concert without caviar, in any case karma improves. The best way is to convince yourself.
