Yes, spontaneous ideas are often the best ideas. How nice it is to have a concert venue practically next to your front door. You can quickly get out of the house 10 minutes before the start of the show to attend the event. At the end of the Old Capitol’s season, Anna Rosinelli visited Langenthal on this Friday evening with guitarist Manuel Meisel and bassist George Dillier. It turned out that after such a long time without concerts, everyone somehow needs a little start-up and getting used to life with live music and concerts again. But that shouldn’t stand in the way of a nice and entertaining evening.
Personal welcoming
Okay, no, we weren’t in Anna Rossinelli’s living room, but we could have been. At least that’s what the Basel singer thought, because not quite as many visited the Old Capitol as organizers and band have hoped. One could have done the whole thing in her living room, Anna analyzed after her first song “Broken Hearted” (by the way, my favorite Anna Rossinelli song).
Yes, the Basel woman, who became known in 2011 thanks to ESC and her song “In Love For A While”, who sang with James Morrison on the Hallenstadion stage and was a coach on “The Voice Of Switzerland” around the beginning of 2020, was standing in front of a larger audience before than this evening. Well, due to corona, admission was also severely restricted because of the protective measures and the concert only took place seated – paired up with the accompaniment or alone, each with an empty chair in between. The mask was allowed to be removed.
It really felt like it was in the living room. Comfortable, decelerating and personal. There was always something to smile about. Late visitors were greeted directly by Anna. The trio caught every word and every exchange on stage. But don’t let that stop you from going to the bar and drink whatever you want, Anna encouraged.
Unexpected can be fun
Anna Rossinelli and the two men were just as happy as every single person at the Old Capitol to finally be able to attend a concert again. The trio entertained the concert-visitors in high spirits. Already with the second song “See What You‘ve Done” they brought a lot of momentum to the concert location.
The following “Jewelery”, from the newest album “White Garden” released in 2019, was again quieter. There was even a different version of the song for this particular evening. They had spontaneously rehearsed it, but there was no time for other new versions. Unexpected things are always funny, Anna thought.
Where she is right, she is right: This was especially evident only a few songs later, when guitarist Manuel suddenly broke the string and he had to change it. It was unexpected, but not necessarily something special. Strings break every now and then. The unexpected and funny thing about it was the moment when Manuel realized that he had pulled the wrong string … Well, there was a quick role reversal: Manuel grabbed another guitar and continued with Anna in a duo while bassist George in in the meantime changed the string again.
Encore
The varied mix of own songs, from covers by Adele, Alphavile (“Big in Japan”) and Jessie J (“Prize Tag”), paired with Anna’s great voice and Manuel’s backings, brought the Langenthal audience a wonderful, entertaining evening . An evening to unwind, to slow down and just enjoy. Anna Rossinelli also sang her own version of the Pegasus duet “Victoria Line”. Unfortunately, Pegasus frontman Noah couldn’t come, she regretted. Of course, the latest song, the current single “Forevermore”, could not be missing.
Here the Setlist:
- Broken Hearted
- See What You’ve Done
- Jewellery
- Two Hearts
- Bang Bang Bang
- Hold Your Head Up

Of course, the concert didn’t end without an encore. So Anna and Manuel even came down from stage and stood in front of the audience for one last song. In the end everyone was so enthusiastic, that Anna Rossinelli and her two men simply were refused to leave. Being at the end of the setlist, Anna spontaneously organized the lyrics for Kings Of Leons “Used Somebody” with the help of the audience, ending the concert with it.
Yes, life is just better with live music. It was a great evening with Anna Rossinelli and her band.
