Eskimo at Bierhübeli garden

Corona summer 2020

Saturday evening in the Bernese Bierhubeli garden. Admission is free,  collects is a moral obligation. Contact tracing registration is also mandatory. But very easy. Where in the past there was a festival density like almost in no other country, there are only a handful of events during the current Corona summer. The bands, their crews and music fans are grateful for the organizers (see also Mühle Hunziken, Swiss Mountain Road Show, Kufa Lyss, Schüür Luzern etc.), who can do something at short notice.

In the shadow of the trees adorned with lights and lanterns, Felix Grandjean started the show with a high E on his Winchester-something-trumpet (Don’t ask me, the lead singer mentioned it 😉 ), to get full attention of the audience right away. The sounds of the trumpets went into the first song “Vor dr Tür”. The Bernese dialect band Eskimo played a more reduced and calmer set of about an hour that evening.

Eskimo used to be Pablopolar. Manuel Kollbrunner and Simon Vogt have fulfilled a dream with the new dialect project. They tell stories of “Hans” (listen to the same named album here) in several parts, including internationally as in “Johnny”. They sing about dreams, abundance and banal everyday life. They pack you into cotton candy, spin through the seasons and in between play an Element Of Crime Cover – of course in their own agglo-pop version. Thrilling, touching, thought-provoking, but also motivating. Big feelings every second. If you like Swiss dialect, you shouldn’t miss Eskimo – and you should definitely listen to them anyway.

Eskimo Bierhübeli Bern

Yes, this evening was a lot different than usual, but one thing was certain, “So Geit’s O” (at least for the moment) – a cozy, mild summer evening with a corona-compliant garden concert. Wonderfu

Note: Please note that this is a snapshot. Just because some events can take place does not mean that everything is fine again. The event industry cannot function nearly as much as it needs to to survive. It desperately needs support. They all have a protection concept. Go out and visit these beautiful open air and garden events. Enjoy a delicious meal, a drink and the nice music. The Swiss music scene is incredibly diverse.
