Friday is newmusicfriday! The day when most new music is released. And that’s why I’m presenting my top 5 releases again this week. This week mainly in German.
What have you discovered this week?
#1 Vincent Gross – Hautnah (Album)
Yes, it is a particularly exciting week. Because after about three years of work, a lot of sweat as well as heart and soul, Vincent Gross is releasing his new, 3rd album “Hautnah” despite lockdown. With “Hautnah” Vincent Gross combines party, humour, romance and soulful ballads. It is an album that brings together Schlager, dance and pop fans.
Vincent Gross’ previous singles (“Über uns die Sonne”, “Chill Out Time”, “Ich schenk dir mein Herz”, “Hautnah”) held the No. 1 spot in the German airplay charts for over 14 weeks. And because all the public events are currently not possible because of Corona, Vincent is simply organising the “1st Digital Autograph Session Tour”.
The young musician’s modern pop hit album definitely contains more than just one catchy tune. My personal favourites are: “Über uns die Sonne”, “Servus Grüezi & Hallo” and “Der Frühe Vogel”.

#2 Rag’n’Bone Man – All You Ever Wanted
British blues and soul singer Rory Graham, known as Rag’n’Bone Man, celebrates his 36th birthday with his new single “All You Ever Wanted”. The single is a forerunner of the new album “Life By Misadventure” which will be released on 23.4.2021. Growing up in Brighton and London, the new upbeat song expresses the sadness he feels when he thinks of the cool places that no longer exist there.

#3 George auf Lieder – Bernd
I heard and saw the likeable German musician George auf Lieder live for the first time as support for Milow at Kaufleuten Zurich. With songs from his own life, invented stories and great humour, he immediately thrilled the audience. Now he is releasing “Bernd”, a moving, very personal song for his biological father, with whom he has had no contact for 14 years.

#4 Die Prinzen – Dürfen darf man alles
The Leipzig cult band Die Prinzen is asking itself “What are you still allowed to do these days?” on the occasion of the band’s 30th anniversary and is releasing “Dürfen darf man alles”, a first forerunner of the new album “Krone der Schöpfung”. The album, which they have been working on for two years, is scheduled for release on 21 May 2021 and will contain classic Prinzen songs. I’d say we all sometimes keep asking what is still allowed these days…

#5 Halunke – Für di
On the SRF1 “Radio Bingo Show”, a listener had won a new, personalized version of the Halunke song “Roter Teppich” (Red Carpet). The winner wanted a version dedicated to nursing staff. So the Bernese band rewrote their song and “Rote Teppich” became “Für di” (for you). A very special thank you to all the everyday heroes and heroines out there.
